Have I included all the bells and whistles in the
FREE FrontPage Template? No
Does it include other FREE stuff? No, not really,
unless you consider the detailed instructions on how to create your
first menu, or the movie help file that contains a few extra tips. The design
is simple, but has a lot of the elements that you'd want in
designing a fully functional web site, besides that's what the "for
sale", more robust templates are for. Be sure to check out the
additional FREE items I include there!
Is the FREE FrontPage Template really FREE?
For the most part yes. All I ask is if you decide
to use the FREE template, there is a link in the footer that came
with the template to
www.designsforthenet.com. It has for its' link text
FrontPage
Templates and should appear as such. Please do not change the
link text and just leave the link on any pages that you use the
template to create. That's all I ask.
Why is that important to me, you ask?
I might get a referral from your site from
someone visiting your site, liking the design etc... You get the
picture, plus I also get a vote, if you will, and yes there are
other reasons but this is not a course on Internet Marketing.
Why would I give away a perfectly sellable
template for FREE and only ask that you leave the link to my website
there?
For several reasons. First, I obviously want you
to like the products enough that you will want to purchase one of
the more robust templates, or even design services, depending upon
your needs. Second, I want even the FREE Sample
Template to be good enough that
you'd use it to build your site with, and I will end up with a link
to my site!
Why would I include movie help files for the menu
system and put together such a "nearly" complete package as a FREE
sample?
Well it's obvious to me, but I want my customers
to be successful, plain and simple. In the "for sale" or
more robust templates you
get all the above plus a whole lot more.
If you are new to Internet Marketing and are not
already an Internet Marketing Pro, the Search Engine Quick Start guide
should be added to your MUST READ list. It covers a
number of "On-Page Optimization" factors that you should pay
attention to in designing your web pages. Again, written for my
clients, as I want them to be successful.
Ask yourself this. Why do you have a web site in
the first place? If it is not a personal web site, but a business
site, or a site for your organization, I assume that you want your
site to be found and rank well with the Search Engines. The
Search Engine Quick Start guide, "What's in
a Title Anyway?"
will be an eye opener.
Ok, lets move on to the very cool menu system and
more about it.
2) What's the deal with the "third-party" menu
software company and their FREE version? Is it a full version?
Yes, it is a fully functioning version of their
product. You should however read about the conditions on their web
site, as I do not want to misrepresent their conditions, but
basically they require a link to their site on those pages that you
use the menu system. See the link on the download page to
their site where you can download their very cool product, explore the site, and
get more questions answered.
You're probably wondering by now, who are these
guys with this great visual tool for generating the cool DHTML/Javascript
menu's. Right? And why isn't their company name and links plastered
everywhere on this site?
Well it's like this...I'm not selling their
product. They don't have an Affiliate Program that I could make a 20
-30% commission on. I don't see a nickel from the sale of their
product. When and if that ever happens, I'll have to change this
page, but as of now I don't earn dime one if you buy their product.
Now with all that said, and at the end of the day,
these guys have a great product that I know you are just going to
love! How's that for a reccomendation!
I should tell you that even though they have a
FULL Featured, FREE use version of the product, most of my customers
purchase the product. They even have a multiple site developer
version at very good prices, so if you are planning on developing
menu's for multiple domains, be sure to check that out.
Their product is good enough, that I would design
a product line of FrontPage Templates that were designed
specifically to work
with their very cool DHTML/Javascript menu's. Enough said....
